Job Title: Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer (Oracle Flexcube) Department: IT Reports to: Head of Applications & Platforms Controlled Function: N/A Location: London Hours of work: Full-time, Monday to Friday the role is based 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home Job Purpose: We are seeking a motivated, hands-on and experienced Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer with a focus on operational support, administration, and technical management of the bank’s core platforms, including Oracle Flexcube, Oracle ERP, Oracle Financial Crime and Compliance Management (FCCM), Finastra OPICS Treasury Mgmt and Suade Regulatory reporting systems. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, performance, and successful daily processing of critical banking applications and associated infrastructure. Working as part of the Banking Infrastructure and Platforms team the role provides hands-on support across Linux/AIX operating systems, Oracle databases, WebLogic middleware, daily processes and EOD batch process. Main Responsibilities: Core Banking Platform Operations Operations: Provide day-to-day operational support ensuring platform availability, intraday and EOD process execution and service continuity. Batch Failure Resolution: Help investigate and resolve batch failures, performance issues, processing delays, and reconciliation exceptions. Business Support: Support business operational teams with intra-day and EOD processing activities. Platform Monitoring: Continuously monitor application health, transaction processing, and system performance to proactively identify and resolve issues. Environment Management: Assist with application deployments, environment maintenance, and platform upgrades. Incident Resolution: Help troubleshoot application, middleware, database, and infrastructure issues impacting business services. Vendor Coordination: Work with Oracle support, implementation partners, and third-party vendors to resolve complex technical issues. Linux & AIX Platform Administration Operating System Administration: Perform routine administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, and AIX servers supporting banking applications. User & Access Management: Assist with managing operating system accounts, permissions, service accounts, and scheduled jobs in accordance with approved procedures. System Maintenance: Help perform routine patching, upgrades, housekeeping, and maintenance activities. Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate operational tasks, monitoring activities, and batch processing functions. Performance Monitoring: Monitor system resources, logs, and performance indicators to maintain platform stability. Oracle Database & WebLogic Support Database Operations: Provide first and second-line support for Oracle databases supporting Flexcube, ERP, and FCCM environments. Database Monitoring: Monitor database performance, storage utilisation, backup status, and operational health. Backup & Recovery Support: Assist with design and implementation of backups, recovery testing, replication monitoring, and disaster recovery activities. WebLogic Administration: Support Oracle WebLogic environments including service management, deployments, troubleshooting, and certificate management. SQL Server Database Operations: Provide first and second-line support for SQL Server databases supporting all OPICS environments. Database Monitoring: Monitor database performance, storage utilisation, backup status, and operational health. OPICS Application support: Help troubleshoot operational issues, any pre-Windows upgrade concerns and certificate management. Incident, Problem & Change Management Incident Management: Respond to and resolve platform incidents within agreed service levels. Problem Management: Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes to recurring issues. Change Implementation: Execute approved infrastructure, application, database, and middleware changes following established change management processes. Operational Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, standard operating procedures, and support guides. Service Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve platform stability, automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency. Resilience, Recovery & Compliance Disaster Recovery Support: Participate in disaster recovery exercises and resilience testing activities. Backup Verification: Validate successful completion of backups and recovery processes. Operational Controls: Ensure adherence to operational procedures, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing operational evidence, documentation, and technical information. Capacity Planning: Monitor utilisation trends and support future infrastructure planning activities. Experience & Skills required: Required Experience 3+ years of experience supporting Oracle Flexcube, Oracle ERP, or similar enterprise banking platforms. Experience operating within a banking or financial services environment supporting business-critical applications. Hands-on experience administering Linux (RHEL) and/or AIX environments. Experience supporting Oracle databases, SQL Server including monitoring, backups, performance analysis, and troubleshooting. Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic middleware environments. Experience monitoring and managing overnight batch processing and end-of-day banking operations. Strong understanding of IT operational support processes and production service management. Ability to work independently during critical production incidents and overnight processing windows. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
