ntal results and operational lessons back into future detector designs and technology roadmap decisions Help establish best practice in detector development, testing, and deployment within a growing technical team About you You have significant experience in detector physics, instrumentation engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong track record of delivering complex detector systems from concept through to deployment You are comfortable taking technical ownership of detector design decisions, performance trade-offs, and system architecture You combine deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, engineering-led approach to solving real-world problems You have experience leading or mentoring other scientists or engineers, providing technical direction and constructive review You are confident designing, reviewing, and interpreting simulation, laboratory tests, and field data to guide development priorities You have experience improving system robustness, reliability, and scalability as technology moves from prototype to production or repeatable deployment You work effectively across disciplines, collaborating with electronics, software, data, and operations teams to deliver integrated systems You are comfortable engaging with non-specialist stakeholders, explaining technical risks, limitations, and performance in clear terms You are self-directed and able to prioritise work in an environment where technical challenges and commercial timelines evolve You value good documentation, design discipline, and test methodology, and help establish these practices within the team You are motivated by applying advanced detector technology to real-world applications and seeing it deliver measurable impacy Details Contract: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am-5.30pm with some overnight and/or weekend working required Location: The position is based in the main office and workshop in South Warnborough with some off-site travel and international travel.
