About this role

Position Summary Esmil is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in High Wycombe (full-time; part-time considered). You will manage and coordinate the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects from design handover through procurement, fabrication, FAT/SAT, site installation, commissioning and client handover. Typical tasks include data collection and validation, schedule and tracking, supplier and subcontractor coordination, quality control, risk management, and clear communication with clients and internal teams. Success in this role requires a technical understanding of Esmil’s systems and technologies and a practical, hands-on approach to execution. Key Responsibilities Maintain a high level of product and process knowledge across Esmil’s technologies (e.g., membrane systems such as RO/UF/NF/MBR, DAF, chemical dosing, sludge dewatering). Own day-to-day project coordination from engineering handover to client acceptance, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality targets are met. Plan and maintain project schedules; track progress, risks, actions, and changes; report status to customer and project manager. Collect, review, and manage documentation (specifications, P&IDs, drawings, data sheets) to ensure accuracy, approvals, and alignment with requirements. Coordinate and supervise workstreams across design, procurement, fabrication, logistics, site installation, process engineering, QA/QC, and commissioning. Arrange, witness, and document FAT/SAT, performance tests, and site trials; compile test packs and close-out documentation. Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors; prepare and issue meeting agendas and minutes; manage RFIs and technical queries. Prepare and review RAMS and method statements; ensure compliance with H&S standards, CDM duties, and site rules when needed. Support cost control and forecasting; raise and manage change orders/variations with commercial awareness. Maintain accurate project records (data, schedules, drawings, correspondence) in the company systems/CRM. Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned, feeding back into engineering and delivery processes. Required Qualifications & Skills Experience delivering or coordinating industrial projects (water/wastewater, process, chemical, or related). Ability to read and interpret technical documents (P&IDs, GA drawings, datasheets) and discuss technical concepts with confidence. Strong organisation and communication skills; able to manage multiple tasks. Commercial awareness with a pragmatic approach to schedule, cost, and risk. Working knowledge of H&S management (RAMS, permit to work) and site practices; familiarity with CDM principles. Proficiency with common productivity and project tools. Driving licence and willingness to travel to supplier premises and client sites as required (worldwide). Desirable Qualifications & Attributes Degree in Engineering (Chemical/Process/Mechanical/Civil) or a related discipline. Hands-on exposure to wastewater treatment technologies (MBR/RO/UF/NF, DAF, chemical dosing, sludge dewatering) and process design concepts. Experience with commissioning, performance testing, and producing O&M manuals and turnover/handover documentation. Experience managing suppliers/subcontractors and basic contract administration (e.g., change control, variations).
