Current Opportunities Senior Linux System Administrator Hybrid (50/50) | Full-time | Permanent Apply now About the Role Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux (Debian-based) systems in production environments. Design, implement, and maintain automation using shell scripting for provisioning, monitoring, backups, and routine operations. Manage and troubleshoot networking components including DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and connectivity issues. Install, configure, maintain, and optimize databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, and managed services such as AWS RDS. Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability; respond to incidents and conduct root cause analysis. Implement security best practices, patching, access controls, and compliance standards. Participate in on-call rotations and incident response when required. Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and communicate technical concepts clearly. Responsibilities Provide first-line technical support to clients via phone, email, or ticketing systems regarding VoIP and telecommunications issues. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to VoIP hardware, software, and network connectivity. Assist clients with configuring and troubleshooting VoIP phones, routers, switches, and related equipment. Collaborate with internal teams to escalate complex issues and ensure timely resolution. Document all client interactions, technical issues, and resolutions in the ticketing system. Continuously update knowledge base articles and FAQs to facilitate self-service troubleshooting for clients. Perform periodic system maintenance tasks and upgrades to ensure optimal performance of VoIP systems. Requirements Strong hands-on experience administering Linux (Debian) systems in production environments. Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python or similar) for automation and tooling. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, troubleshooting). Experience managing and supporting databases: – PostgreSQL – MySQL / MariaDB – Cloud-managed databases (e.g., AWS RDS) Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex system issues. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain technical concepts clearly. Desirable / Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with AWS, including: – VPC and networking – EC2 – Route 53 – Backup strategies – Monitoring and observability (e.g., Prometheus) Exposure to SIP / VoIP systems, including troubleshooting voice platforms and network quality issues. Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, or configuration management tools. Experience operating high-availability or large-scale environments. About the Role The Channel Manager will play a key role in developing and managing partner relationships across the business. The successful candidate will work closely with both new and existing partners to support onboarding, account development, training, and ongoing growth opportunities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with channel experience who enjoys building relationships and working collaboratively with partners to help them succeed. Responsibilities Onboard and support new channel partners Manage and develop existing partner relationships Conduct regular partner meetings both remotely and on-site Support partners with solution design, customer opportunities, and tenders Assist with partner training and onboarding processes Work closely with internal sales, engineering, and development teams Identify opportunities for growth across hosted telephony, SIP, connectivity, and mobile solutions Maintain regular communication with partners to ensure high levels of engagement and satisfaction Help drive adoption of new byphone products and services Support commercial discussions and proposal development where required Represent byphone professionally at partner meetings and industry events Requirements Previous experience working within the telecoms or IT channel Strong account management and relationship-building skills Experience within VoIP, SIP, UCaaS, hosted telephony, or cloud communications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Organised, proactive, and self-motivated Ability to build trust and long-term relationships with partners Full UK driving licence Willingness to travel regularly to partner meetings and to our Belfast HQ when required Desirable / Nice-to-Have Skills Experience working with channel partners/resellers Technical understanding of hosted telephony and SIP solutions Experience supporting tenders and customer opportunities Knowledge of CRM and telecoms platforms What We Offer Competitive salary Remote working options Opportunity to join a growing and ambitious business Supportive and collaborative working environment Opportunity to make a genuine impact within the business Long-term career development opportunities Why Join byphone?
