You will work with the CCO, the wider management team and the trustees of Montala’s Employee Ownership Trust (comprising 3 elected staff). You will provide an informed technical voice at board level while helping the company make sound, pragmatic decisions about its products, services, people and long-term direction. You are likely to have: held a senior technology, product or engineering leadership role within a software or SaaS business; experience of contributing to company strategy and significant commercial decisions; a broad understanding of software development, cloud infrastructure, information security and service delivery; experience of setting product or technical direction rather than simply delivering a predetermined roadmap; the ability to evaluate technical opportunities and risks and explain them clearly to non-technical colleagues; experience of leading through capable managers and specialist teams; good financial and commercial awareness; a collaborative and pragmatic leadership style; the confidence to challenge constructively and the judgement to know when not to intervene; and a demonstrable commitment to ethical, responsible and sustainable business. It would be helpful, but not essential, to have experience of: open-source software; digital asset management or related content technologies; an employee-owned business or another organisation with participative governance; ISO 27001 or comparable information-security frameworks; international SaaS service delivery; or serving as a company director. Appointment process The appointment will be made through a structured selection process involving Montala’s directors. Montala welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds. We select candidates on their ability to perform the role and contribute positively to the company.
