Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer
About this role
As a TechOps Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining the hybrid infrastructure that allow various divisions within the NCC Group to function and communicate securely, both internally and externally, on a daily basis.Working as a member of the Group Corporate TechOps team, responsibilities will include patching/securing; configuring; upgrading; maintaining the company’s cloud, virtualisation, storage and server infrastructure along with designing; installing; configuring new systems & equipment whilst liaising and planning with other highly skilled infrastructure, network and security specialists. Projects will vary depending on business and focus on security; policies; procedures; documentation; and being an approachable team player is key. You will work in a fast paced and fluid environment so responsiveness and the ability to manage varying workloads whilst maintaining high standards is important. On occasion, there maybe planned and unplanned out of hours work therefore, flexibility is key. In this role you will be a key member of a small and dynamic global team based primarily in the UK but also other regions, with opportunities to be exposed to new technologies and methods for ensuring reliable and secure IT operations. To ensure IT infrastructure services function to Service Level Agreements (SLA's)To maintain (patch/troubleshoot/document) and monitor physical and virtual network/server/cloud infrastructure environments with a strong focus on securityInstall and test new solutions and enhancements to existing solutions in both test and production environmentsDiagnosis and resolution of issues in accordance with published SLA's and in a customer focused mannerAppropriate management & escalation of faults, failures and change requests to the relevant parties, ensuring timely and appropriate responsesBe an escalation point for fault resolution for Service Desk Engineers and provide on-call 24/7 support as requiredEngage in project and capacity planning, implementation and rollout providing expert advice as appropriateTo maintain up-to-date technical skills to perform the role in a dynamic agile business1:1s - Regular, structured check-ins focused on priorities, progress, challenges, wellbeing, and development; create space for open, two-way dialogue.Performance: Clear expectations, ongoing performance tracking, early intervention on issues, and fair, evidence-based reviews; recognise and differentiate performance.OKRs: Set clear, measurable goals aligned to organisational priorities; regularly review progress, adjust as needed, and focus on outcomes over activity.Coaching: Build capability through questioning, stretch opportunities, and tailored development support; encourage ownership and growth.Guidance: Provide clarity, direction, and context while enabling autonomy; support decision-making and remove barriers.Feedback: Frequent, timely, and actionable feedback; actively seek input from others to drive continuous improvement Essential skills: · Management experience in TechOps Engineering role Previous experience working in a TechOps Engineer role or similar technical IT role.Previous experience working in a 3rd line corporate enterprise cloud & hybrid infrastructure experience working within a fast-paced agile environmentSolid experience with varied aspects of corporate hybrid enterprise IT infrastructure & networking – good TCP/IP networking & routing knowledgeProven skillset to include Server 2012 to 2022; DHCP; DNS; vSphere; MS Azure/AD/Entra; M365 (EXO/Teams etc.); Group Policy; FirewallingDatacentre server (HP/Dell Servers/Blades) hardware support, build and configurationDemonstrably comfortable working on own initiative and as part of a larger team · Demonstrable broad ranging troubleshootingExcellent documentation/diagramming skillsFamiliarity and acceptance of ITIL standards and associated change management disciplinesConfident in applying security hardening to various infrastructure components Desirable but not essential: Networking skills to a CCNA levelLinux technologies (OS/SQL/Web Servers/Proxies/Containerisation)AWS/GCP Automation skills (Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc.)Version Control (Git)SSL Certificate Authorities A good salary that matches the things you have already done and will do; Flexible working hours and flexibility in working from home or at the office, allowing you to optimally combine your private life with your work; A favorable pension scheme, 26 vacation days (+4 mandatory days off), and 8% holiday pay with a full-time contract; Plenty of development opportunities: you can gain and share knowledge through training, TechTalks, events, and our own Fox Academy; A laptop and business phone.
