About this role

The description below is kept for reference. New openings are posted on our careers page . The Role You will work across our platform and AI systems to build things that work in production. That includes integrating with CRMs and data systems, taking prototypes through to production, and iterating based on real usage. You will improve system performance through evaluation, prompt design, and model tuning. You will own problems end-to-end, with the team's support when needed. What This Role Requires You should already be comfortable with most of the following: Building and deploying working systems without close supervision Working across PHP (Symfony) and modern stacks (Python/TypeScript), or getting up to speed quickly Navigating and improving existing codebases, not just starting from scratch Debugging issues in live environments and getting to the root cause Handling ambiguity and turning it into something concrete Improving how an AI system behaves, not just calling an API If you're still building experience in several of these areas, this role may feel like a stretch. Tech Environment You'll likely work with: PHP (Symfony) Python / TypeScript Node.js / FastAPI OpenAI, Anthropic APIs AWS / GCP Automation tooling and custom-built systems Tooling for evaluation, fine-tuning, and model iteration How We Work Small team, clear ownership Minimal process, used where it adds value Fast iteration, balanced with reliability Direct communication, no layers Collaborative by default — we share knowledge and support each other What We Value People who build, not just plan Clear thinking over buzzwords Finishing things properly Sharing ideas and improving how we work as a team We care more about how you think, build, and solve problems than your background or career path. Why This Role You’ll work on systems that are used in the real world Your work will go live quickly and have a visible impact You’ll have autonomy, with support when you need it You’ll be part of a small team solving practical, non-trivial problems The Bottom Line We're looking for someone who can take a problem, build a working system, and make it reliable, including within existing production platforms. That is who we found for this role, and the position is now closed. See Current Openings Applications Closed This role is no longer open Position filled Thanks to everyone who applied. We hire a few people a year and post every opening on the careers page before anywhere else.
What this role is, and what else it is called
Employers in the UK advertise this kind of work as Software Engineer, Web Developer, Software Developer and Senior Software Engineer too, so it is worth searching more than one wording. It is a mid-level Software Engineering role in the UK, advertised without a stated working pattern, which is worth asking about.
